Seems that the Mayor of Detroit lied (under oath) about some text messages related to an extra-marital affair.
I was gonna get off into this one but it ain't gonna stop people from being nosy as hell anyway. What is the use? My own personal view is that if his wife accepted his apologies and stayed with him, who the hell am I to have shit to say beyond that.
But apparently it is BIG news here in Detroit. It may even be national. I mean it ain't like he got caught smoking crack in a hotel or anything...

He deliberately lied under oath - isn't that against the law? That's a big deal for a mayor homie...not as big as Marion B smoking crack, getting caught and then being re-elected...but still big! lol
I'm with you in saying that whether he cheated on his wife or not, is their business. Completely agree with you on that one, but then he should have just refused to answer the question.
Why are people stupid enough to keep incriminating text messages anyway??? It's just begging to be caught!
HE wasn't stupid enough to keep the messages. He was stupid enough to use company, and by company I mean Government, equipment. This particular service keeps backups of communications because you know how we are about catching our officials up in some shyt. Oversight and all that.
I do agree that he shouldn't have answered. Of course that would have made him look guilty. I really think this is some of that same shit that happened to Bill Clinton. They couldn't get him for the thing they were really pissed off about. So they get him on some shyt that they knew he would lie about under oath. What man does admit to cheating? Or what woman for that matter?

I guess my problem with it being "news" is that 1) it is five years ago. 2) Everybody whose name ain't Carlita need to back up off of that. 3) Since it is ancient history and doesn't involve him doing wrong as The Mayor I think it is being blown outta proportion.

I heard about here in the QC. I agree with everyone. The shit has hit the grits and not Mr. K has to admit that he LIED under oath. Two, why on earth was he soooo sloppy? Doesn't he know he's BLACK and a POLITICIAN. SMH

Hey, I am with you on if his wife is cool with it, then whatever. First of all, I bet she knew he was like that anyway. Probably been sleeping with a bunch of chicks anyway... Who knows. This all came out because he's in the spotlight. She probably knew what was up.
Now, TIME magazine voted him one of the worst mayors a few years ago.

I think his wife was not at all misunderstanding how he is. Especially after the whole stripper thing (which started it all to begin with) where she was supposed to have laid down the smackdown on females who were out of place. That is, in her place.
Bill and Monica wouldn't surprise me at this point. Especially with Hills getting more traction with Edwards dropping out. There may be a little mileage left to that story.
This is just another case of haterism in the media. The county prosecutor and the City Council are not in any hurry to investigate things because this turned out to be a trial by media.
I knew he hit that. I personally have doubts that five years ago was the last time he did but that's neither here nor there. The reason it's news is that he keeps messing up and behaving like he's above the law and untouchable. For a lawyer with such politically astute parents and handlers he makes a lot of stupid mistakes.
There's the Navigator thing, the strippers at the Manoogian mansion and the fallout from that, the expensive and unnecessary trips for him and his family paid for by city expense accounts (until he got caught), and that's not even mentioning the very recent stuff like the reporters he assaulted on camera, the chick he went to the hotel with in North Carolina that wasn't his wife or Christine Beatty, or changing the rules so the reporters have a more difficult time questioning him and his staff.
The sad thing is I'm reasonably certain that the next time he runs for reelection the people of Detroit will probably give him another four years to mess up and thumb his nose at them.
Yeah. And the more I hear the more tired I get. They were mentioning how it is affecting his electability. I am scratching my head and wondering why he would even try again. He may get another chance. I just hope that nut McPhail isn't his biggest competitor. Or he WILL win again.
